Governor Says Manufacturing an "Industry in Crisis"

Governor Ed Rendell spoke to local manufacturers today about how to stay competitive in what he calls "a dying industry." The Governor called manufacturing "an industry in crisis," and he says it will continue to die without state and federal support. He touched on healthcare, education, fair trade, and energy dependence all important issues to local manufactures. The Governor also discussed how improvement on those issues could give Erie a competitive advantage against dominating countries like China and India. However, manufacturers said they want Rendell to support tax breaks for Pennsylvania industries.
