PennDOT Program Under Review

A statewide efficiency program designed to cut costs for PennDot is under scrutiny following the Valentines Day blizzard that crippled eastern Pennsylvania highways. Sources say a program called Maintenance Efficiency and Cost Effectiveness has removed more than 500 Penndot and rental trucks from PA highways this winter. But while the ME-CE program may be reducing snowplows on one side of the state, PennDot says northwestern Pennsylvania actually has more plows on the road. State legislators are reviewing the effectiveness of the ME-CE program.
