Visitors to Presque Isle Downs Casino not only see lots of slots, but plenty of police. State police troopers have been assigned to duty at the new Summit Township casino. They patrol the gaming floor. But they don`t answer regular calls off the floor. If there`s a problem, off the floor or outside of the casino, troopers from the the Lawrence Park Barracks of the Pa State Police are called to respond. State police officials say assigning troopers exclusively to the casino gaming floor is no differant than troopers assigned exclusively to patrol the Pa Turnpike. Presque Isle Downs pays for the police inside the casino, and it pays for the off-duty trooper overtime for traffic control outside the casino. Presque Isle Downs is the first casino in Pennsylvania to open in an area patrolled by the Pa State Police.
