A maker of dog and cat food ---sold under several store brand names including Wal-Mart, Pet Smart, Safeway and Wegmans is issuing a recall.
Menu Foods says it`s taking 60 million containers of its wet pet food off store shelves following reports of animals suffering kidney failure and dying after eating the product.
The company says product testing --so far--has not linked its food to any of the illnesses or deaths.
The recall covers the "Cuts and Gravy" flavored pet food that was sold in stores between December third and March sixth.
Menu Foods makes pet food for 17 of North America`s top 20 retailers...and is a contract manufacturer for top branded pet food companies such as Procter and Gamble.
On Friday --Procter and Gamble recalled several of its products made by Menu Foods, that were being sold under the Iams and Eukanuba brand names.
