GOVERNOR ED RENDELL SAYS THE STATE IS ALLOWING MORE LOW INCOME FAMILIES TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF A FEDERAL PROGRAM THAT HELPS PAY HOME HEATING BILLS. GOVERNOR RENDELL ANNOUNCED THAT THE STATE PUBLIC WELFARE DEPARTMENT WILL INCREASE THE INCOME THRESHOLD FOR THE LOW INCOME HEATING ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM OR LIHEAP TO 29 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A FAMILY OF FOUR OR 150% OF THE POVERTY LEVEL. RENDELL SAYS THIS INCREASE WILL HELP MORE FAMILIES WHO NEED HELP IN PAYING THIS YEAR`S HIGH HEATING BILLS.
