Lancers Take State Title Again!
The General McLane Lancers have made history. For the first time in Pennsylvania history, teams from the same school have taken the state title in both basketball and football in the same school year. What`s more, many of the players on the basketball team are also members of the football team that won the state title just a few months ago. Tonight`s boys basketball state championship game took place in State College against Greencastle-Antrim. The final score was 57-55. There will be a welcome home ceremony for the team on Saturday afternoon.
Unfortunately, it was a disappointing end to a great season for the Villa Maria girls basketball team.
Friday night, they came home with silver medals - not gold.
Villa lost 58-44 against a powerhouse York Catholic team that was the undefeated defending state champions in Double-A.
The girls were welcomed home by a cheering crowd when their bus returned to Villa Maria Academy Friday night.
