Jamestown Man Killed Following Street Fight

A Jamestown, NY man is dead and another man is behind bars charged with 2nd degree manslaughter. The 9-1-1 call came in just after 6:00am Saturday for someone lying in the street, unresponsive. Emergency crews arrived to find 36-year old Ruffin VanHook, Jr. of Jamestown and transported him to WCA Hospital where they attempted to revive the victim but weren`t successful. Throughout the course of the investigation, police learned VanHook had been in an altercation with 29-year old Todd Wynn also of Jamestown early that morning. Police say Wynn did admit to being in a fight with VanHook, Jr. but they had just recently met. Police felt they had enough probable cause to charge Wynn with 2nd degree manslaughter, meaning his actions recklessly caused the death of another. Investigators still don`t know the complete details of the fight that they believe led to VanHook`s death. They hope Monday`s autopsy will reveal what killed the 36 year old victim, but at this point they don`t believe there was a weapon involved. Wynn has been arraigned and remanded to the Mayville County Jail without bail. An autopsy is schedule on VanHook`s body at the Erie County Medical Center at 9:00am on Monday.
