Walter Hendl Dead
Former Erie Philharmonic Conductor Walter Hendl has died. Maestro Hendl was named music director of the Erie Philharmonic in 1976, and remained there until his retirement in 1990. This past January Hendl turned 90 years old. Walter Hendl had a brilliant music career, conducting or performing with the New York Philharmonic, The Boston Pops orchestra and many other famous symphonies. He is survived by his wife Barbara and daughter Susan.
