power outage Hundreds of Erie residents went to bed by candlelight Wednesday night after strong winds blew through the Erie region. Officials say about 1,100 homes in the area are without power. Penelec crews, as well as crews from Ashtabula and Springfield spent Thursday morning clearing debris, fixing broken poles and removing downed power lines. Officials say outages were scattered throughout different areas around the city. Many traffic lights in the city were out Thursday morning, including some on Peach St. Motorists were being advised to use caution on the roads.
