No Charges Against Goat Lady

Charges will not be filed against the woman who had 31 animals seized from her Conneaut Township property last month. Erie County District Attorney said in a news conference Tuesday morning there was no doubt that Yvonne Murkens animals were living in unsanitary conditions however when Veterinarians assessed the animals health there were no signs of dehydration or malnutrition. Were told Yvonne Murkens will get her animals back, in coming days but thanks to a deal with the Erie County DAs office their appointed foster families are first being given a chance to adopt them for a reduced fee. 62-year old Murkens has said for weeks everybody has the wrong idea about the 21 puppies, 3 small goats and 7 adult dogs found living in what Pennsylvania State Police called unsanitary conditions. Now the animals did receive veterinary care from the Erie Animal Hospital for flees, worms and tooth decay after they were taken out of Murkens care but the District Attorneys office says those finding didnt mean there was cause for criminal charges. Murkens tells us she now plans to get her state kennel license and has also agreed to periodic inspections of her kennels throughout the next year by The Humane Society of Northwest Pennsylvania.
