Sinnott Endorses Skate Park

Mayor Joe Sinnott has pledged his support of a public skate park in Erie. In a meeting of the Erie Neighborhood Watch Council Wednesday night, Mayor Sinnotts hand was just one of the many hands raised in support of the park. The vote was unanimous, but a final written vote from all council members is still needed. The total budget for the project is estimated at $250,000. So far the Skate Erie Association has raised nearly $10,000, and has other fundraisers planned. The project was pursued in the Filippi administration, when it received a state grant worth $82,000. But progress must be made soon before that grant expires in December of 2008. The S.E.A. will meet with the mayors assistant next Tuesday to present their plans.
