watch video
The money is finally in the bank. Erie County Executive Mark Divecchio deposited the first check from Presque Isle Downs gaming revenue Monday morning.

The checks will continue to come in on on a quarterly basis, but where and how the money will impact Erie County is still unknown. This first quarterly check totaled more than $400,000. It still hasn't been determined how these funds will be distributed, but the County Executive says they will take their time in making that decision.

Operations have been underway now for 2 months. For the casino's grand opening week, the gross terminal revenue was over $4.5 million. The most recent numbers being reported show a gross terminal revenue at just under $3.5 million.

The Mikonsky's traveled in from Andover, OH. They've been to casinos all over the area.  They said they enjoy Presque Isle Downs Casino because it's so close to home, but they say there's definite room for improvement.  For example, the buffet.

However,  The Mikonsky's say any needed improvement aside, they will be back.

As for the use of the revenue, Divecchio did say he hopes to distribute some of it to help with the John Kanzius cancer research.

Presque Isle Downs Casino CEO, Richard Knight also says he's excited to see some of the casino money finally going to the county.

He says there's much more in store for the future of Presque Isle Downs.
