Crawford County Storm Clean Up
High winds and pounding rain left a path of destruction behind. There has been no official word of a tornado touchdown, but the damage in some areas is severe. David Belmondo was down in Crawford County and talked to some of the local residents. Many of them told David that they saw a huge, black shelf cloud moving into the area along with what they believe were rotating winds and flying debris through the air. People headed to their basements when the tornado warning sirens were activated and then, a few minutes later it was over. Then people began to head outside to survey the damage.
Just outside of Meadville along Route 19, one resident found not one, but three trees in his yard toppled over, unfortunately they were on top of his garage.
A few miles away at the Port Meadville Airport, a metal hanger was ripped away and tossed over a fence -- it ended up a crumpled mess. An Ultra Light that was in the hanger was tossed even further down the field.
In Tamarack Lake, one resident and his family worked to clean the trees that snapped in their yard. Several thousand people in the areas were without power after the storm moved through. We're told there may still be a few pockets left without electricity, but hopefully those people will be on line by the end of the day.
