Harborcreek Threat Update

Talks of a threat in the Harborcreek School District turned out to be rumors. The Erie County Sheriff said Friday morning that the threats that had been circulating via email and text message were the product of a rumor mill. State police, the Erie County sheriffs department and Harborcreek School Officials were all on hand to make sure students arrived safely this morning. The superintendent said the school district conducted two internal investigations as well as an independent investigation and found no significant threat. He said he felt that the situation was handled appropriately. Attendance, however, was down Friday. The superintendent said typical attendance is about 95%, wheras Friday they saw closer to 80%. He said it will be up to individual principals to decide whether those absenses are excused.
