Fast-acting neighbors thwarted a break-in attempt Monday morning. State police have one man in custody after witnesses say he attempted to break into two homes along Route 5 in Fairview. A neighbor driving to work noticed a car dropping off a man in a back yard. The witness says he called police and then he saw the man try to break into the house at the corner of Lord Road and Route 5. The witness says he then saw the man enter the house next door. State police investigators have been called to the scene.
