Sisters Bond Over Fires

watch video
Two separate fires over the weekend.  Both on 10th street.  Both involving members of the same family.

Talia Gore and her younger sister Yvonne Lomax haven't talked much over the past months, but now they're talking multiple times a day since both of them lost their homes to devastating fires over the weekend.

Sunday just after midnight in the 600 block of E. 10th St.,  fire forced Yvonne Lomax and her family from their home.  One of the first calls she made was to her big sister Talia Gore.

Then, later that same day, Gore's home went up in flames in the 1200 block of W. 10th St. Now they're both left picking up the pieces and trying to figure out what to do next.

Despite the coincidence, investigators say they don't believe there is any other link between these two fires The American Red Cross has stepped in to help both of these families in their time of need, but funding has been hard to come by. Now these two sisters are coming together to support each other.

Gore says she and her sister haven't been too close over the past few months, but she believes these fires may have happened for a reason.  She says,  "i believe that God just works in mysterious ways you know because we hadn't been talking for a while because we both have separate lives and families you know its hard to communicate but this has brought us back to realize you know family's important."

Both fires are still under investigation. The Lomax Family Fire Fund has been set up. Donations can be made at any Northwestern Savings Bank. Talia Gore says she will be setting up a fund for her family in the coming days.
