A signature piece to the Erie County Convention Center has been put into place. Two cranes lifted the steel bridge that will connect the convention center and the hotel. They started at 7 a.m Wednesday morning.; that's when two cranes with some very strong straps lifted the bridge and set it in place. It took a few hours to lift the 180 foot Skywalk bridge. The bridge was hoisted to the area where it will be bolted in place.The Skywalk Bridge will allow easy access from the Convention Center on the Sassafras Pier to the Hotel on West Dobbins Landing. The walkway will not only be enclosed, but it will be climate controlled; as well.
