Low price models are ok for some people, but not many.  A hearing device needs to be matched not only to your hearing loss, but also to your activity level and lifestyle in order for it to work well for you.  Will you be happy with a lower end device?  Probably not.  Think of it like buying a cheap pair of reading glasses to replace your prescription glasses.  It's up to you - you can experience a slight savings on the initial purchase, but your hearing capabilities will be limited.  Devices suited to your needs will allow you to hear all of the flavors of sound, as opposed to just getting by.
