ATV Riders Playing it Safe

watch video
Recent life-threatening and life-ending ATV accidents are exactly what one local organization is working to cut down on... if not eliminate.

An Erie County based group known as ATV Traction has set up a safety course designed by the DCNR. It's designed to take ATV riders through multiple lessons to hopefully avoid accidents when out on their own. The class is also required for riders ages 8 through 16.
Riders learn about shifting weight when doing turns and  looking ahead to see what's coming up.

One instructor says, "he's not completely opposed to parents riding with their children, but both riders need helmets and always use common sense."

ATV safety training isn't just for inexperienced children, but parents are also finding there's always something to be learned to avoid unfortunate accidents."

With the proper equipment and training, ATV riding can be a fun time for the entire family.

With enough interest, these safety courses can be held at your request.

Just log on to www.atvtraction.org for more information.
