Members of the Skate Erie Association presented plans for a new skate park to Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott today. The association has been working for several years to get a skate park in the city of Erie. The planned park would be made of concrete - the best surface for skateboarders. The association is looking at Baldwin Park as the possible location for the skate park. They say they have spoken with neighborhood residents and they are looking for a solution that will work for everyone. Skateboarding is currently banned on city property - meaning many people skate in the streets and on the property of local businesses. The mayor says he supports the plan, but the big problem is money. The association says the park will cost about $215,000. Right now the association says they have raised about $115,000. They plan to get the rest of the money through fund-raisers and donations.
