Presque Isle Beach Regulations
State, county and city officials were in their second day Friday of a symposium called, Our Lake, Our Future. E.coli was at the forefront of the discussion. The goal is tkeep more beaches open this summer.
You may remember that last summer, beaches at Presque Isle were closed on 17 days because of levels of E.coli bacteria.
This year, rather than closing beaches advisory signs will be posted when E.Coli reaches a certain level.
Another change will be improved technology to get faster results when detecting E.coli in the water.
Local officials this will have less of a negative impact on tourists who may be looking to come to the area.
