City officials told us months ago the Erie Golf Club wouldn't open this summer.
The city however is mowing the facility...To keep it from falling into dis-repair. And it seems golfers are taking advantage.
Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott disagrees...And says ground crews are only maintaining the course at a minimal maintenance standard.. And that is not a green light for golfers to hit the links.
At this point...The city is hopping a request for a deed restriction is lifted... So the course can be sold. A group led by former Mayor Rick Fillippi doesn't want that to happen....and has taken the issue to court.
Golfers, in the meantime...Who use to frequent the golf course have said the closure was a big disappointment. So in the meantime they're taking advantage of some free golf but the city says that's trespassing.
Again if your caught out here golfing you could face fines or be asked to leave.
