12-Packs at Beer Distributors

watch video
BeerBeer drinkers might soon have more options when it comes to buying their brew. Some lawmakers want to make a significant change in the way beer is sold in Pennsylvania by allowing beer distributors a little more leeway. If passed Senate Bill 674 would, for the first time, allow beer distributors in Pennsylvania to sell 12-packs of beer. This idea is bringing mixed reaction among local beer sellers but praise from beer drinkers hoping to save a few bucks. Currently, under state law, beer distributors are only permitted to sell full cases of 24 or 30 bottles or cans. Mike Dougherty owns Beer for Less and also sits on the state’s Malt Beverage Distributors Association Board. He says this proposal is definitely consumer driven. But local bartender Jerry Zameroski feels this proposal could create a lot of problems for everyone involved. The bill was supposed to be voted on Wednesday by the Senate, but the vote was delayed until June to give interested parties a final chance a comment.
