watch video

September 25, 2012 - The Jewish community observes its holiest day of the year starting tonight.

Yom Kippur, also known as The Day of Atonement, is a holy day in the Jewish religion.

It's a 25 hour period of fasting and prayer.

During this time, people of the Jewish faith seek forgiveness.

"It's a concept that we know that we've made promises to God, we've made promises to people we might not have kept them, so we ask God for forgiveness to annul these promises we made," said Rabbi Leonard Lifshen, Brith Shalom Congregation.
