PennDot Construction Updates

September 25, 2012 - PennDot has four major construction projects in the area, fortunately one of them will be complete in two weeks.

PennDot is currently working on Asbury Road, the Sterrettania Road bridge, the Route 5 bridge and two projects on upper Peach Street.

Asbury Road was recently opened back up to traffic after an extensive drainage system was installed and the road was widened.

Crews are doing paving work now.

"The overall project is about sixty percent complete and will not finish until next year about summer of 2013," said Bob Fromknecht, PE for PennDot.

Out in Fairview, the Route 5 bridge project is still under construction.

"The work will continue here for the next several weeks with anticipation to get that road open in October," Fromknecht said.

Crews are working on widening Peach Street, adding turning lanes as well as Interstate 90 ramps.

"As far as paving goes, paving will occur next year and the project overall will finish in summer of 2013," said Fromknecht.

There's good news if you travel on the Sterrettania Road bridge.

"The Sterrettania Road bridge project is well on its way to being completed," Fromknecht said. "So as a matter of act, it should be open to traffic in about two weeks."

PennDot is currently working on a $4.2 million dollar ADA concrete curb ramp project from Peach Street to 83 feet north of Cherry Street intersection.

It started in June and is approximately a two year project.
