Ambulance Rollover on Route 19

Waterford volunteers were the first dispatched to the accident. First responders quickly called for more help.

September 27, 2012- Firefighters and emergency workers were called to the  scene of an ambulance rolled over on Route 19 North of Trask Road just before 8:00 this morning.

A witness said the ambulance rolled over twice coming to rest on its roof.

Waterford volunteers were the first dispatched to the accident. First responders quickly called for more help.

Reportedly, the Elgin Beaverdam Ambulance was taking an accident victim to UPMC Hamot from an accident near Corry. That man, 22 year old Ethan Reed, found himself hanging upside down still strapped to the gurney in the overturned rig.

According to dispatches from the scene, a total of 5 patients were taken to UPMC Hamot from the rollover, all with minor injuries.According to police, the driver of the ambulance, 76 year old Melvin Crawford apparently suffered some kind of medical emergency that caused him to veer off the highway and roll the vehicle.

Crawford has not been charged in the accident.

 

State Police are investigating.
