Local Artists Make Gifts For Catholic Bishop Elect

Local artists are making gifts for the new Catholic Bishop.

Bishop Elect Persico will receive a statue of Saint Teresa brought back to life by local artist, Teresa Butler.

Butler is an artist for Braendel Painting, the company received the statue from a group of local nuns who wanted to give it to the new Bishop.

Art Conservator Fredy Huaman is hand carving a new coat of arms for the Bishop which will hang in Saint Peter Cathedral.

Huaman came to Erie from Peru, where he was formally educated in art.

The gifts will be presented to the new bishop during his ordination Monday, October 1st.
