Death Sentence For David Copenhefer Upheld
A death sentence has been upheld for
a man convicted of a crime that happened more than 2 decades ago.
The third circuit court of appeals
in Philadelphia upheld the death sentence for 65
year old David Copenhefer in an opinion that came down Thursday.
Copenhefer was convicted in 1989 for
the kidnapping and murder of Sally Weiner in Corry.
In May, Erie county district attorney Jack Daneri
went to Philadelphia to argue the appeal after the death sentenced was vacated
in a 2002 ruling.
Copenhefer is awaiting his death sentence at the state correctional institution in Greene Township.
