The Remains Of A Korean War POW Are Returned To Meadville
Williams died in December of 1950 while he was held as a Prisoner Of War during the Korean war. He was held in a Korean Prison Camp known as Death Valley.
Williams was buried in Korea until 1994 when his remains were taken to Hawaii as part of a unilateral action conducted by the Democratic People's Republic Of Korea.
A DNA sample was taken from his nephew Clifford Williams of Meadville and that confirmed the identity of Sgt Williams.
More than 100 veterans on motorcycles escorted Williams body from Pittsburgh to the Waid Funeral Home in Meadville. A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held Sunday afternoon at 2pm at Greendale Cemetery in Meadville.
