Perry St Fire

A fire at an eastside home leaves 10 people looking for temporary housing.
Erie firefighters were called to the house in the 24 hundred block of Perry Street around 5 this afternoon.
One of the occupants said he smelled smoke in the attic and at first thought it was kids playing with matches, but that was not the case.
But the smoke kept getting worse and the fire department was called.
By that time, smoke was coming from the roof and firefighters found fire behind one of the walls in the attic.
A fire inspector was called to look for a cause.
It took about a half hour to get everything under control.
