October 4, 2012:

Pfeiffer-Burleigh Elementary School began the program today called "Recess Relay".

The school is the first in ErieCounty to take part.

Recess Relay is a branch of the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life".

The students will spend the next few months not only getting more exercise but also learning about cancer, prevention and the importance of community service.

This is a year long program.

Today was the first of many recess relay races to come.

The program ends with a big celebration at the end of the school year.

This is GREAT, you have no idea how many schools do NOT have a recess or a lunchtime outside play time...Even the high schools could use outdoor time but never get any...It's no wonder all of the kids are gaining weight... No exercise and snacking on things they can only afford to buy to eat now a days is leading our country into a major obesity problem!! I think ALL school students, including College's should have time to go outside and get some fresh air andd exercise, even if it's walking around...
