New Bus Stop Added In Erie To Keep Students Safe
Some parents in the City of Erie
School District are relieved after the district adds a bus stop aimed at
keeping kids safer.
The major concern was the
intersection at 12th and liberty where students were forced to cross on their
way to Emerson Gridley Elementary School.
Since Monday, students could be seen
getting off their bus at 16th and Poplar Streets.
Earlier this year parents in the
neighborhood voiced their concerns over the walk prompted by last years decision
to close three schools, resulting in redistricting of students.
Since then
parents have come before the school board and crossing guards were brought in, but
after more consideration the district decided its better to bus students from
this neighborhood.
The district said adding the stop cost no additional money because there was already a bus in the area that had extra room.
