Sammica Roberts Vigil

    Almost a month after Sammica Roberts was shot on Erie's east side... a vigil was held in her honor...

Friends and family of Sammica Roberts are devastated... But what makes this even worse is that Clifton Barney, who was also shot that day...is reportedly not cooperating with police.

    Dozens of friends and family members were honoring the life of 22 year old Sammica Roberts...

    Who was shot early in the morning on September 9th in the 1000 block of Brandes streets...

    Just four days after the shooting, the Erie County Coroner tells us Roberts died of a gunshot wound to the head, and was pronounced brain dead.

    Also shot that day was 21 year old Clifton Barney... Even though he was a victim this time, he's been a suspect in the past..

    Erie police have said he's not cooperating with detectives and their investigation...which angers Samicca Roberts family.

    Katherine Burrows, Sammica's cousin tells us the problem is parents aren't raising children... They're raising bullies, she will continue to pray for Barney, and the Roberts' family is hopeful that someone will come forward and give them closure.

This investigation is still ongoing... Police have not made any arrests at this time.

He had a run in with police back in 2008... He pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm...

    Most recently he faced charges for his alleged involvement in a shooting back in June. Those charges were dropped because the victim and witnesses failed to appear in court.
