Suspect in Custody in Ashtabula Double Homicide

            Two people are dead and a suspect charged  in a case that has shocked the town of Ashtabula.

            It happened at a home on 50-12 Kain Avenue.  According to the Ashtabula County coroner, the 40 year old mother was shot to death and her 20 year old daughter died from multiple blows to her body.          

        Patty Torres and her daughter Hilda Rodriguez were found in separate bedrooms of that home on Kain Avenue.      

        A third person was found in the home at the time.           

        That man, Gilberto Torres was charged earlier this morning of two counts of murder for allegedly killing the two women.           

Torres faces a minimum of 15 years to life in prison for each charge.He did not enter a plea on either count this morning in court and is being held on half a million dollars cash bond.

The 30 year old's  preliminary hearing is tentatively set for October 19.

            Police and neighbors say the couple had a long history of domestic violence...          

Some neighbors saying as recently as this past summer, he tried to set himself on fire.         

Authorities are continuing their investigation and are going to be looking at the results of the autopsies to figure out what exactly happened in this double murder case.
