Man Charged with Murder of Two Ashtabula Women
Now, a suspect has been charged and arraigned.
Thirty-three-year-old Gilberto Torres was charged this morning with two counts of murder for allegedly killing his wife and step daughter.
The double murder happened at their home on 5012 Kain Avenue.
According to the Ashtabula Coroner, 40-year-old Asparo "Patty" Torres was shot to death and her 20-year-old daughter Hilda Garcia died from asphyxiation by smothering.
Gilberto Torres, husband to Patty, was found unconscious in the home and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
He was then taken into custody.
Torres now faces a minimum of 15 years to life in prison for each charge.
Torres did not enter a plea on either count this morning in court.
