Lake City Fire Company Shows Off New Rescue Boat

watch video
Lake City Fire Company has a new boat to add to its arsenal of life saving equipment.

It's called Sealegs, a 20 foot vessel powered by a 115 horsepower Evinrude motor. But what makes this boat unique is it has 3 wheels. This boat can be launched from just about anywhere. Just unload it from the trailer and drive it to the water. You can continue to drive the boat into the water until it's deep enough to use solely as a boat. The wheels will retract until you reach land. The wheels go down and you drive it from the water back to the trailer.

Being able to launch from places without a boat ramp means you can save valuable time, being able to launch much closer to the actual rescue.

The boat cost 134 thousand dollars with the majority of the cost paid for through  the Assistance To Firefighters Grant provided through FEMA
