American Red Cross and Penelec Gear up for Hurricane Sandy

OCTOBER 27, 2012- Erie could soon be seeing the effects of Hurricane Sandy.

The storm has not made landfall yet.

But local groups are gearing up for the possibility of Sandy's fury.

The American Red Cross of Western Pennsylvania is already preparing a crew of one dozen volunteers.

These volunteers are prepared to head to parts of New Jersey and New York.

Penelec is also gearing up for the storm.

They tell us they have two meteorologists tracking the storms.

If needed, they will bring in crews from Canada to assist in restoring power.
