watch video

November 8, 2012--A man serving life in prison for the 1991 murder of an Erie cab driver was back in court today.

Antonio Howard was 15 years old when the shooting that killed Richard Stevens happened.

Shad Connelly was the Erie County Judge who sentenced the teenager to jail for life without parole.

This summer the Supreme Court ruled that kind of sentence is unconstitutional.

Today Howard was in Erie County Court for a hearing, asking to represent himself as he seeks to have his sentence reduced.

Judge Connelly ruled in favor of Howard, now 35 years old and an inmate at SCI Huntington.
