No Tax Increase For The City Of Erie

After a significant tax increase in 2012... Erie Mayor Joe Sinnott proposed his $63 million 2013 budget to City Council tonight, which he says is a fair and balanced spending plan...

Mayor Sinnott tells us he's been working on this budget for the past three months... Saying there was no need to raise property taxes this year.

In that plan...taxpayers will not be seeing a tax increase on their properties...

Or fee increases...

Sinnott tells us this year, he's holding the tax line..

    Last year taxpayers saw a significant tax property increase... Of nearly 13%... This year, he says it took months of hard work, but they were able to find $750,000 in savings in places like risk management.

    Sinnott says it was more difficult to put this budget together over the last several months because of things like higher pension costs and employees salaries rising...

    But overall, he tells us this is positive news for the community.

    Curtis Jones Jr, City Council President tells us he's content with the outcome. Council would not have supported a tax increase for 2013.
