Otters Streak Ends With Loss to Niagara

Erie, Pa. - The Erie Otters were stopped in their quest to win their third straight game as the Niagara IceDogs came out on top with a 5-2 win over the Otters Wednesday night at Erie Insurance Arena.

The IceDogs scored twice in a span of one minute and 48 seconds during the first period thanks to goals by Brett Ritchie and Carter Verhaeghe.

Connor McDavid put the Otters on the board 33 seconds into the second period with his 12th goal of the season. Connor Brown won the faceoff to Troy Donnay, whose point shot was deflected by McDavid.

Steven Shipley put the IceDogs back up by two at 8:48 of the second. The Otters came back to within a goal after Connor Crisp scored his seventh goal of the season. Crisp fired a shot from the left circle through the blocker side of Chris Festarini at 13:46.

Mitchell Theoret and Ryan Strome each scored for the IceDogs in the third period to put the game away for the visitors.

The Erie Otters travel to Kitchener for their first meeting against the Rangers Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Fans can listen in to all the action starting with the Erie Federal Credit Union Pregame Show at 7:15 p.m.
