2-Car Crash Kills Union City Man
(November 16, 2012) A 2-car crash turns deadly near Union City Friday afternoon.
The fatal crash happened around 3:30 Friday afternoon at the intersection of Rt. 8 and Union Amity Road.
The man who was killed is identified as 69 year old Ronald Waite of Union City.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the investigating trooper, a SUV driven by 30 year old Jessie Lee Shields of Erie crested a small hill on Rt. 8 and crossed the center line into the path of Waite.
Waite tried to slow down and veer out of the way to avoid the collision, but the two crashed, causing Waite's car to spin 360 degrees.
Shields was flown to UPMC Hamot with what are described as moderate injuries.
