The SSJ Serve 24th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner

watch video

November 22, 2012 - It's the season for giving back and for giving thanks.

That's what the Sisters of Saint Joseph were doing at GannonUniversity today.

For 24 years, the Sisters have served a thanksgiving meal to anyone who is alone or would otherwise not celebrate the holiday.

188 people volunteered to help serve the meal.

The event is about more than a meal.

"I'm always surprised I think at the number, but it goes beyond even the food," said Sister Mary Herrmann, SSJ NWPA President. "I think some of it's the companionship people are looking for."

Monetary donations and leftover food are used throughout the year by the Sisters of Saint Joseph to continue giving.
