Coroner Identifies Woman Killed in Weekend Assault

    November 28, 2012 - The woman who was assaulted and killed over the weekend in her west Erie apartment has been identified by the Erie county coroner.

Lyell Cook, Erie County Coroner, has identified the victim as Mary Smith, 51, also known as Mary Ann smith.

    Her death has been ruled a homicide.

    She died at UPMC Hamot on Tuesday.

    Her cause of death is pending toxicology results.

    Jeffrey Selby, 51, was charged originally charged with criminal attempted homicide and aggravated assault for his alleged involvement in the incident. He was arraigned on a new criminal homicide charge Wednesday afternoon as a result of the autopsy findings.
