SCI Albion Reports Death of Inmate

Albion - State Correctional Institution at Albion Superintendent Michael Harlow reports the death of an inmate.
Larry Cooper, 51, was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 9.
Corrections staff immediately provided life-saving measures. He was taken to the institution infirmary where he was met by local emergency medical services.
Cooper was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
As required by policy, institutional staff and members of the Pennsylvania State Police are conducting an investigation. The official cause of death will be determined by the Erie County Coroner's Office.
Cooper was serving a sentence of 22 years 6 months to 45 years for criminal conspiracy out of Philadelphia County. He was committed to state prison on July 15, 1981, and had been at SCI Albion since Sept. 14, 2010.
Facility staff has notified the inmate's next-of-kin.
