A Vehicle Check Before You Hit The Road Could Save You Time & Money

watch video
12/18/12   Triple "A" expects to "rescue" 39 thousand stranded motorists in the local 4 state region during the Christmas and New Year's holiday, but some of those vehicle problems could be avoided with a simple check before you hit the road.

One of the most important things to check are the tires. Tread depth should be at least 5 thirty seconds or greater to insure the vehicle won't slip and slide when the roads get slick.

Be sure to check your battery. Most batteries are good for four years, but if your on the borderline, you might not notice a problem when the weather is mild but once the cold weather sets in, you could find the vehicle won't start.

Keep an eye on the belts and hoses. If you see any cracks or if the rubber feels brittle you could experience a problem like a broken serpentine belt.

But one tip you'll want to keep in mind is slow down. Give yourself plenty of time and leave for your destination a few minutes early. Also, police will be out in force over the holidays so don't drink and drive
