PennDot Preparing For Winter Weather

watch video
December 26, 2012

The snow storm is creeping eastward, prompting PennDot to get their crews in gear and ready for the winter weather chaos...

In just a matter of hours it went from barely any snowfall...to almost a complete whiteout.

We're told if the temperatures continue to drop this could translate into icy conditions...so drivers, be alert!

The combination of heavy snowfall, high wind gusts, and chilly temperatures could have the potential to lead to accidents if you're not careful...

So Millcreek Police are stressing to drivers the importance of paying attention to the roads, especially in conditions like this.

That's why PennDot has been out in full force since four this morning when they got word that the storm was headed our way.

And as you can see from our map, more moisture is on the way from the southwest and gulf coast...the dark blue you see means moderate to heavy snowfall.

Darrell Chapman, Assistant County Manager for PennDot tells us they started prepping back in September for winter weather... with 21,000 tons of salt...60,000 gallons of brine, and they are prepared to bring in more crews if necessary.

And even in MillcreekTownship.. Their salt and plow trucks are up and running.
