Snow Helps Local Businesses

December 27, 2012 - If you've been in Erie long enough, you now know to just live with the snow.

But some people have to make a living on what Mother Nature drops from the sky.

Places that rely on the snow to make money are happy with what the blizzard left behind.

Mount Pleasant of Edinboro is thrilled to have a foot of snow on the slopes.

Because of the snow, Mount Pleasant was able to open today for the first time this season.

Mount Pleasant employees aren't the only ones jumping for joy because of the snow.

While most of us were sleeping, snow removal crews were working throughout the night.

JC Orengia had 12 to 15 trucks plowing driveways; they didn't stop until four this morning and were back at it going around for a second time to clear everything.

O'Brien Landscaping and Plowing covers more than 250 clients and also had a busy night.

Both companies are hoping for a better winter this year than last.

So far this year, we've had 12.8 inches of snow.

Last year at this time, we had 8.5 inches of snow.

A normal winter in Erie, we usually have 22.1 inches by December 27th.

On average, an entire winter we get 101.2 inches.
