January 1, 2013 - While many people spent the first day of the new year out of the office, it was the first official day for three local leaders in Harrisburg.

Three men from Erie were sworn-in to their respective new jobs in Harrisburg today, surrounded by their friends and family.

It's the beginning of a new year and a new chapter for three Erie elected officials.

Sean Wiley, Greg Lucas and Ryan Bizzarro defeated their opponents on November 6th.

Senator Sean Wiley was inaugurated and will represent the 49th District of Erie County.

Senator Wiley was one of four newly elected Senators.

"This is amazing," said Senator Wiley. "It's an amazing experience. I have my family with me, we have some 50, some people who came from Erie, which is quite a trip. It's been a remarkable experience. Something I'll never forget."

Meanwhile, in the house, there were 29 freshman members; 10 Republican and 19 Democrats.

Representative Lucas defeated democrat Jason White.

"It's a great day to start, start on the first day of the year and get to work right from the get go,' Rep. Lucas said. "Don't waste anytime, get right after it."

Representative Bizzarro beat Republican Jason Owen in November.

He's looking forward to getting to work in Harrisburg.

"The main areas I want to focus on are business development, public safety and education," Rep. Bizzarro said. "All of those issues are crucial to further development of ErieCounty and of this state."

Some familiar faces also took their oath of office today.

State Representatives Curt Sonney, Flo Fabrizio and Pat Harkins renewed their oath of office..
