Senator Wiley Receives Committee Assignments
SEN. WILEY RECEIVES COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS
Wiley will Chair Intergovernmental Operations & serve on others including the Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee
JANUARY 7, 2013 - State Senator Sean D. Wiley (D - 49th) has been named the Democratic Chairman of the Intergovernmental Operations Committee. The Intergovernmental Operations Committee was created at the start of the previous session to consider proposals for streamlining state government, including the possible consolidation of agencies.
"This appointment gives me the opportunity to take on one of the issues the public seems most concerned about. Making sure state government runs efficiently and cost effectively is at the heart of keeping faith with taxpayers. I think there is an opportunity to have a substantial impact on how taxpayer dollars are spent at a time of tight revenue and increasing public impatience with bureaucracy," said Sen. Wiley.
This afternoon, Sen. Wiley received several other Senate Committee assignments. In all, he will serve on 5 committees, including the Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee.
Committee assignments are as follows:
Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee
Intergovernmental Operations Committee, Chair
Public Health and Welfare Committee
Labor and Industry Committee
Communications and Technology Committee
Sen. Wiley said, "I'm excited to have the opportunity to serve on these committees. Each one touches on a different aspect of our community, and I'm looking forward to making sure your voices are heard in Harrisburg."
