Vet Tech Saves Pit Bull Mom and Puppies

watch video

JANUARY 11, 2013- Veterinary technician Lynette Rater has been working with animals for most of her life... and on a daily basis she treats animals at their best... and worst......

But on Wednesday of this week a pregnant Pit Bull by the name of diamond was brought into the GlenwoodPetHospital with puppies stuck inside her.

"We tried to manually help her expel the puppy... and not going to happen... So forced to make a decision... To have c section done which owner could not afford," says Lynette Rater, VetTechGlenwoodPetHospital.

Rater tells us this time she couldn't turn her back, and she knew something had to be done...

"People were heartbroken... And I'm a sucker for babies... I couldn't do it.... I had to do what I could to help," says Rater.

Mary Grace Lacoste, a receptionist at the pet hospital says normally workers have to let the dogs go... but this time was different.

"Was a case... She couldn't let go... Unfortunately we see a lot of things like this and we have to let things be," says MaryGraceLacosteReceptionistGlenwoodPetHospital.

Rater took responsibility footing part of the bill and delivered 8 of the 10 puppies... Two puppies passed away in the process..

"She would have eventually died... I mean she had 9 other puppies behind this one," says Rater.

But GlenwoodPetHospital says this is a rare occurrence and recommends everyone get their pets spade and neutered. "

"Spay and neuter your pets!  Too many in shelters that need homes just important," says Rater.

The pet hospital normally doesn't foot the bill to save animals but this was a special occurrence.

Funds are needed to pay for the initial procedure, food, vaccinations and overall care of Diamond and her puppies.

If you want to help, call the GlenwoodPetHospital at 814-864-3019.

What a terrific thing for Glenwood Pet Hospital and Veterinary Technician Lynette Rater to do, if we lived closer, THIS is the Pet Hospital we WOULD choose, in a second! How loving and caring of them!! I know vet bills can be enormous, but the help they gave Diamond & her puppies is beyond money sometimes, and I know they can't afford to do that too many times, but if they were that touched by Diamond and her puppies, The VET'S and TECH'S here are worth going to, only wish we lived closer, we'd LOVE to be part of that Vet Hospital!!!
